Dear Christine,
Thank you so much for your submission to Lichfield Institute’s 2024
Spring Writing Contest.
We hope this message finds you well. We are writing to provide feedback on your manuscript – Beautifully broken.
I thoroughly enjoyed this poem. The lines, “Sometimes we have smiles / and sometimes we have frowns,” speak to the fluctuating nature of life’s emotions in a clear and direct manner.
There is a comforting universality in this work, as it reminds us that everyone experiences the highs and lows of life. The sentiment, “We are all beautifully broken,” carries an admirable strength, suggesting that there is beauty to be found even in our imperfections, a message that many readers will find relatable and uplifting. The closing lines also possess a quiet wisdom, implying that unspoken pain is a shared experience, gently inviting readers to accept their own brokenness as part of the human journey.
I would love to see this piece expanded and published.
We are grateful to have had the opportunity to review your work and for your participation in our contest. Please remember that writing is a continually evolving art, and every piece you create is a step forward in your literary journey.
Please stay tuned for our 2024 Winners and Finalists announcement to see if your submission has been selected.
